Brief details of some philosophical and ethical IDEAS IN ANCIENT Tamil literature
Until recently, most people who study Eastern culture, the term "ancient Indian literature" were almost the same meaning as "Sanskrit Literature". At the same time they term "an ancient Indian philosophy" has always been closely connected with the Vedas, the Upanishads and the works of Pali and Jain canons, as well as from the sutras and commentaries related to the six traditional systems of Indian philosophy. However, in the early first millennium AD. e. in the south of the Deccan, between the river and Cape Komarin Pener, there was a country with its extraordinarily Tamil rich culture, very original poetry and philosophy, in many respects different from the philosophy of the north.
Some elements of the northern culture that has penetrated to the south, a long time remained unchanged here, in the form in which they have existed for centuries before in the north, other elements have changed very much and later returned to the north almost unrecognizable, While the third element of the northern culture were not perceived by the south. But those who were accepted and existed side by side with local, native Dravidian elements of culture, but rather promoted the development of the past rather than their suppression.
When we speak of the ancient Tamil literature, the word "antiquity" put a completely different content than when it comes to Sanskrit literature. Vast literature on classical Sanskrit, is stylistically-resistant, provides an opportunity for its literary and linguistic analysis of literature consistently go to the Upanishads, epics and, finally, to the writings of Vedic complex and the Rig Veda as the most ancient of them.
In this analysis, we do not just go to the broader linguistic area of the ancient Indian language, but, and most importantly, we can go from literature as a product of conscious social, aesthetic and psychological activities of the works Which are only conditionally, and for certain research purposes may be called literature, which were realized as literature only in the later, classical period. |
